At Technique We Build More Than Skills

Technique is where kids (crawling to 18 years old) build athletic skills and confidence while enthusiastic staff encourages self-esteem and skill development. Our programs allow young athletes of all skill levels to participate in gymnastics, tumbling, Ninja Gym, kids’ fitness programs and a variety of other exciting activities. Technique additionally hosts both girls’ and boys’ USA competitive gymnastics and also T&T teams for those athletes wanting to compete.

History

Technique was founded in 1992 and opened the doors to the West Coast’s largest and safest gym in August 1996. Family owned and operated, Jim and Alice Welch envisioned a place where kids not only learned gymnastics and tumbling, but also gained valuable life skills that would help them in the process of becoming a responsible adult.

In 2024, the Welch's passed the torch to Jeff Gimbel, who looks to continue their legacy and take Technique to new heights.  With a focus on gymnastics excellence and supporting its athletes through all stages of life, Technique will continue to serve as a home for both athletes and their families for years to come.

Our Programs

Endorsing a positive environment that always encourages participation, our programs help kids become aware of the great things they can accomplish. The majority of our programs are non-competitive and divided by age and skill level to be developmentally appropriate. Students are encouraged to work toward their individual goals and enjoy their personal successes. By teaching the most current and safest techniques, students develop a strong foundation that allows them to go as far as their interest and ability allows. Technique also uses the Character Counts program in our curriculum to encourage positive character development. We believe in working alongside teachers and parents to develop happy, healthy, responsible kids.

Our Staff

Our staff includes some of the highest trained and most qualified instructors anywhere! While they are members of USAG and numerous other professional organizations, Technique’s main requirement for the staff is that they love children!
